James V. McKinney has practiced with the law firm of McKinney Law Offices, P.C. since 1985, and is a partner of the firm. Mr. McKinney was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on December 8, 1959. He received his preparatory education at Drake University, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Cum Laude, in 1982. He received his legal education at Drake University, earning his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1985. Mr. McKinney was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1985. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

Mr. McKinney's professional affiliations include the Iowa State Bar Association, Iowa Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and the Dallas County Bar Association. He has provided lectures in areas of Wills and Estate Planning. He has served as President of the Dallas County Bar Association. He has served as Vice-President of the Waukee Business Association and has served as Treasurer for the same.
